Roadworks along Zonnekus Road and Mamre Road in the Cape Farms district

20 March 2024

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate hereby advises residents, road users and businesses of the rehabilitation of the unpaved (gravel) Zonnekus Road and resurfacing on the intersections with Mamre Road in the Cape Farms along the West Coast. The work commenced at the beginning of this week and will run until 13 May 2024, from 07:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday and on Saturdays from 07:30 until 17:00.

The scope of the roadworks includes the rehabilitation of the Zonnekus gravel road, resurfacing of the intersections with Mamre Road and construction of concrete and gravel stormwater side drains.

'The reason behind undertaking this rehabilitation project is that the City would like to maintain the road surface at an acceptable standard as well as improve the stormwater drainage in this area. Another offshoot of this infrastructure-led project will be the economic growth potential for the area once the road is improved,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

'We thank residents and road users in general for their patience during the course of this project and are certain that they will be as delighted as we are once the work is complete. Residents can expect a level of noise and dust pollution during this time.'
